But only briefly.
I went out to Alberta last week because my grandfather has brain cancer, aka not long to live. I just got the call that he's got pneumonia. While I was there, he went into the hospital, so this wasn't really a surprise. But it leaves me lacking energy to talk about it.
There was family drama. I met up with ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) may_flyer and we hung out. I saw my family, who I don't usually see. I'm very, very glad I went.
There's really not much to say. My mom's going out there tomorrow morning, because this is pretty much it. They're calling the family in-- I've said my goodbyes, and am happy I got the chance to do so.
If this is it, I'm glad it wasn't dragged out. He only just went into the hospital. The less time spent trapped in a bed, the better, you know?

Well, mostly this is just me commenting on the fact that the lead from "New Amsterdam" (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) also plays the lead on "Virtuality". This show is going to be delicious. PLEASE DON'T GET CANCELLED LIKE NEW AMSTERDAM.
Bickering gay chefs are potentially adorable. Whatshergirl (Billie) is adorable. Perhaps a love interest? That or the botanist. WHO KNOWS, MAYBE THEY'LL BE LESBIANS.
Anyway. Back to watching.

This summer, I've been realising how alike my mother and I are- or at least, how much I'm like she was in her youth.
My mom collected Avengers comics. She really liked the Silver Surfer.
We've been watching the old trek movies. We finished Wrath of Khan tonight, and started on Search for Spock. I made a comment about George Takei playing Sulu as gay.
My mom? My mom calls this 'the gay movie' and brings up Kirk and Spock to back it up.
Guys, I think my mom would have been a shipper if she had been born later. We share a lot of fandoms. /I can imagine having my mom as a lj friend/.
Seriously, my life is so odd sometimes.

The good:
-swimming! whoo!
-"tanning". I am now a slightly darker shade of pastey white.
-getting some writing done! Could this be the end of writer's block for now???
-general relaxing funtimes
-night swimming/star gazing, complete with shooting stars and fireflies. Milky Way = my BFF.
The bad:
-Complete and utterly raped by a tree stump. I fell over it in the dark, and it totally beat me up and now I'm covered in bruises and my foot is all swollen and I walk with a limp. BUT IT'S GETTING BETTER, so I refuse to go to a doctor. Yet.

10 Genres Meme
Write 10 different categories of fic, in as few words as possible.
Fandom of choice round 1: Gundam 00, because that's the muse I'm trying to jumpstart.
Lol I suck at some of these genres.
1. Angst: Lyle sat against the wall, the empty box at his feet. He couldn't make himself throw the ring away. It was all he had left.
2. AU: Sumeragi smoothed down the lines of her new uniform. It was an honour to be promoted to the A-LAWS.
Emilio would have been proud. She was (mostly) sure of it.
3. Crack: Haro appreciated being in space again. It meant he could record footage of Sumeragi's breasts from any angle he chose.
4. Crossover: Kinue knew there hadn't been a door in the alley. If there had been, she would have run. But that light-- the old man, incredibly tall, standing over her in the heavy coat-- where had he come from?
PROPS TO ANYONE WHO GETS THIS CROSSOVER. 8D
5. First Time: Saji could feel himself turning red. Louise laughed at him, then leaned up to kiss him again.
6. Fluff: Tieria still blushes whenever he opens a gift.
7. Humor: The room was dark. But Bushido wasn't going anywhere until that damn coffee machine gave him back the proper amount of change.
8. Hurt/Comfort: Marina sat at his bedside, immovable. She would be there when he woke: it was the least she could do.
9. Smut: Tieria bit off the name, biting his fist to keep quiet. He wasn't used to this-- touching himself felt unnatural.
10. UST: Soma walked straight to her room after the training session. She could still feel Allelujah watching her.
SO THIS TOOK ME LIKE TWO DAYS TO WRITE, that's how bad the block is atm. DDDDDDD: SAVE ME.

Overall: not as strong as last week. I only really liked 3 of the 9 dances, and another 3 of the 9 were disasters. :(
